    OJO TAYLOR

PHOTOGRAPHED BY EVAN MCGREW FOR OFF THE RECORD MAGAZIN

Joey "Ojo" Taylor was the leader of the Christian alternative/punk band Undercover in the 1980s - and with his mohawk, punk attitude, and gospel ferver, he was one of my heroes when I was in high school.

Three decades later, we've both changed quite a bit, and today I consider Ojo a friend and someone I deeply respect. I'm a minister of the liberating Gospel of Christ; and Ojo is a professor of music at James Madison University. Oh, and did I mention he's left behind Christianity and religion in general?
